Love is an interesting thing. The undead like hanging around familiar places. It is love? Maybe, maybe just a pattern in what is left of the brain that is familiar and comforting, because the home bound Zombies seem calmer than the free roaming ones. There have been no reports of the virus jumping species but animals do know there former owners. You even see Zombies walking dogs from time to time. It makes sense too. If the Zombies mostly wander around, they might as well be productive and walk a few dogs at the same time. Getting the undead to pick up their own droppings is tough enough, but picking up dog droppings is really pushing it.
I have seen dogs following their undead owners for miles all around the daily wonderings. I even saw what I can assume was formerly a Cat Lady wondering around with a hoard of cats. Of course she was covered in rotten fish. She must have gotten into a trash can at the fishing pier. I choose to assume that was to feed her cats and a feeling of undead responsibility and not as a way to acquire bait for a tasty cat snack later in the evening. Cats are smart, maybe they plan on having a tasty Zombie snack. You never know.
The nature of love is a funny thing. Is it a familiarity grown over time? A passion of the moment? The lack up disgust, maybe the perfection of disgust? The undead have lots going for them but love? Can they love? I have seen people that truly care for them, I believe that they used to love the person that was, but do they love the thing that is? I’ll have to ask my brother about this, well maybe not. I do not want to know the details and I am sure he would tell me everything. Too much information.
Things were going well, even with the franchises. The Investors really know how to make a profit and had the market cornered on Zombie services in the city and soon to be the world if you believe what they are saying. I tend to be a little pessimistic about such large plans, but I would never let them know. The Zombie Security Service was going very well too. The body guards turned out to be very loyal. The President even had a few in the Secret Service. Zombies do not mind taking a bullet, they hardly even notice and they will follow anyone that feeds them and keep others from touching them. It is kind of nice to see a loyal Zombie following his boss like a puppy dog. It has become all the fashion in Hollywood to have Zombies on your security team.
The Zombie Strip clubs still seem less than cool to me, but my brother seems happy and they have lots of business. He is a bouncer at the biggest club and manages a team of Zombie guards. I gave him a few tips on what I had observed with Zombie behavior and the results of my help with the security company. He used the knowledge to get his club to invest in a few Zombie guards for the ladies and he seems happy. It turned out well for him; quickly going to head of security. Of course a little luck had something to do with it. Mysteriously the people with more seniority quit or just were not heard from again. I guess that is typical in the industry. The Zombie Bouncers are amazing. He has them whistle trained. With a signal and nod he can direct them to anyone causing trouble, or instantly call them back to him and their posts. It is amazing to watch, and much better entertainment than the dancers, at least most of the dancers. He really keeps control, when he is not drinking.
I have not had the chance to see my brother much these days. I have been so busy with work. The last time I did talk to him he told me that some medical doctors were working with the Zombie Virus, trying to isolate the properties that keep the undead, living. Sounds like a horrible and dangerous idea to me, but live and let live. As long as they are careful, what is the worse than could happen?
