Money is an important tool in business. It is what business is all about, but there is more, personality. Not the Hollywood flash and bang personality but the real life down and dirty stab you in the back crap that people do when they get too greedy. It is amazing how nice someone is when you make them money. It is wonderful and sharing and beneficial until they make too much. Then they turn. A man focusing on his employees makes money, but as soon as the amount grows to a point where he thinks he has made it to the big time, he chances. He becomes something else, a pariah to the world. One month he is a hard working guy taking care of his family and his people, then it all changes. He starts to be afraid of losing the income and reads dumb ass business magazines. Tries to figure out how to squeeze profit out of the company and puts the screws to the employees, happens every time. Sometimes it takes years or decades, sometimes much less time than that. I have worked for enough people to see the pattern and know when it is going to change.
I was making enough money and had enough authority this time to make my own changes. It helped that the Investors had a reputation of being less than professional at times and had a few thugs on the payroll. I knew it was going to happen, but I was not going to be the bad guy, at least not until they made me. Heaven help the bastard that crosses me or mine. I was more than ready for every little lowlife trick. My days of sucking it up and changing jobs was over. This was my world now.
